FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is my deposit refundable?

No, when you book with us we ask for a non-refundable deposit of £250 per week of your hire to secure your booking. In the event of you cancelling your booking, this will not be refunded to you. This is a small cost and covers the cost of the admin required to cancel a booking and for our team to try and re-hire any vehicle. Please see our full terms and conditions regarding booking and our cancellation policy.

Where can I go?

As long as you stay on paved roads we have no restrictions, however we do ask that you give us a rough idea or where you are planning to go. We may be able to help you find more interesting places. For your comfort, we would suggest not to do more than 80-100 miles per day. We do not allow our motorhomes out with mainland UK and the Scottish Islands.

Do I have to pay a security deposit?

Yes, a security deposit of £1,500 will be taken when you pick up the vehicle. This will be refunded in full once a satisfactory ‘return check’ has been completed. If there is any damage to the vehicle whilst on hire, the cost of repair will be taken from the security deposit and the remainder of the security deposit will be refunded.

How many people can I take?

Depending on the vehicle hired, our motorhomes have seat belts for up to 6 and can sleep up to 6 people. However our terms and conditions only allow a maximum of 4 adults per booking.

What about collection and returns?

Our standard collection time is between 2pm and 4pm motorhomes must be returned by 10:00am. Out with peak times (normally School / public holidays) we try to be flexible with collection and return times, however this is not always possible. All collections and returns are from our base at Torvean Caravan Park.

Can we collect or return anywhere else?

No, you can only collect and return our motorhomes from Torvean Caravan Park.

How does the insurance work?

Once the hire documents are completed all the named drivers will have fully comprehensive insurance cover for the duration of the hire. There is also breakdown cover should anything go wrong. We strongly recommend that you also have a suitable travel insurance policy for this type of holiday.

What documents do I need to supply?

The lead hirer will need to submit ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE of the hire period: driving licence, two current domestic bills showing the same address as the drivers license plus 1 other form of photographic identification, preferably a passport. All drivers will need to comply with our insurance conditions as well as provide a copy of their drivers licence and for UK drivers a DVLA check number.

Can we view a motorhome before we hire?

Yes, however this would only be possible through appointment only as often all our motorhomes are out on hire. Do you have any motorhomes with automatic transmissions? Yes, in all our vehicle categories.

What does my van include?

All of our vans are equipped with everything you need for your motorhome adventure including; cutlery, crockery and cooking essentials such as pots and pans. All you need to bring or shop for is your food for the duration of your holiday.

All vans also come with electric hook up cable and water hose and connection.

Is there somewhere to leave my car?

Yes, we have a secure parking facility at our North500 Motorhome reception/pick up point, and you are welcome to leave your car for the duration of your motorhome adventure.

Do I have to stop at campsites?

We do recommend staying a few nights in campsites as facilities such as chemical toilet disposal are required to dispose of chemical waste appropriately. There is no legal right to park up on the roadside, therefore before planning any camping outwith campsites we would suggest that you make yourselves aware of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and local guidance as there may be restrictions regarding parking in certain areas and car parks and permission may be required. How much do campsites cost?

Typically campsites are around £25-£30 per night and may charge extra for electric hook up. Some campsites offer an all-inclusive cost per night.

Can I go to music festivals?

Please speak to us before you book to enquire whether we can allow the vehicle to be taken to a festival.
